SUITABLE FOR

  • Lip filler migration above the lip border

  • Overfilled or heavy-feeling lips
  • Loss of natural lip shape or Cupid’s bow

What is the Lip Reset Programme?

A calm, medically-led way to reset your lips. We safely dissolve existing filler and only if you want, rebuild a natural, proportionate shape.

The programme is designed for patients whose previous lip filler has migrated, become overfilled, or simply no longer feels like them.

Some choose to dissolve only and return to their natural lips. Others go on to a considered rebuild, planned from scratch.

Every Lip Reset is carried out personally by Dr Theodora Bravi, specialist prosthodontist and skin expert, so your lips are assessed in the full context of your smile, teeth and facial proportions.

Why patients choose us?

Some patients are genuinely unhappy with previous lip filler. Others are happy enough, but simply want their next step planned by a more experienced, specialist-led clinician. Both are completely valid reasons to start again.

The Thames Difference

Some patients choose not to rebuild, and that is equally valid. If you do choose filler again, the rebuild is approached very differently from a standard appointment.

Specialist icon

Mapped to your face, not just your lips.

The lips are read alongside your teeth, smile line and facial proportions, so the result belongs to your face rather than sitting on top of it.

Aesthetics icon

Conservative volume, high-quality filler.

A measured amount of high-quality hyaluronic acid, placed with restraint. The least the lips need, never more.

Root causes icon

Your natural shape, respected.

The lip border and Cupid's bow are kept intact, working with the shape you already have rather than redrawing it.

What to expect

Read below the four step process Dr Bravi takes when dissolving lip filler.

  1. 01

    Consultation & assessment

A full clinical consultation with Dr Bravis, reviewing your lip history, medical background, and the shape you’d like to return to.

  2. 02

    Gentle dissolving

A medical enzyme, hyaluronidase, is precisely injected to break down existing hyaluronic acid filler, with numbing applied for comfort.

  3. 03

    Settle & review

Over 1–4 weeks, your lips settle into their natural shape. We review the result and decide together whether further dissolving or a rebuild is right.

  4. 04

    Optional reset rebuild

If you choose to, Dr Bravis plans a small, proportionate rebuild — designed around your smile, teeth and facial proportions.

Most patients don’t come to me wanting bigger lips. They come because their lips don’t quite feel like their own anymore. A lip reset is a quiet way to give them back.

FAQs

Lip filler migration is when hyaluronic acid filler moves out of the lip body and above the vermillion border — the edge of the lip. It can create a soft shelf above the top lip, a loss of the Cupid’s bow, and a blurred lip border.

It’s usually caused by overfilling, injection technique or repeated top-ups over time, and it’s one of the most common reasons patients come to us for a lip reset.

Swelling after lip filler usually settles within 1–2 weeks. If weeks or months after your treatment you still see a shelf, puffiness, lumps or shape changes that don’t resolve, it’s more likely that something has gone wrong or the filler has migrated.

A calm clinical assessment with Dr Bravi is the best way to understand what’s actually happening and what your options are.

Dissolving lip filler means using a medical enzyme called hyaluronidase to break down hyaluronic acid filler already in the lips. It’s injected precisely into the areas of concern, and starts working within minutes.

Most hyaluronic acid lip filler dissolves within 24–48 hours, with the full effect visible by the end of week one.

Yes, eventually. Hyaluronic acid lip filler is gradually broken down by the body over 6–18 months.

However, some patients have very long-lasting or layered filler that doesn’t fully dissolve for years, which is why a professional dissolving treatment is often needed to properly reset the lips.

In many cases yes — most of the visible dissolving effect is seen within the first week.

However, heavier, older or repeatedly layered filler sometimes needs a second dissolving session 2–4 weeks later to fully reset the lips. Dr Bravi will review your progress and plan any further steps together.

Dissolving lip filler typically goes through four stages: immediate swelling and tenderness on treatment day, visible deflation over days 2–3, most filler dissolved by the end of week one, and full settling of the natural lip shape over 2–4 weeks.

Only after full settling do we decide together whether you want to rebuild or stop.

Dissolving lip filler with hyaluronidase is considered safe when performed by an experienced medical professional. Risks include swelling, bruising, tenderness and, rarely, allergic reaction to the enzyme.

A full medical history is always taken, and in some cases a patch test is recommended before treatment.

Most patients tolerate dissolving well. Numbing is applied before treatment and any discomfort is typically described as brief stinging.

Some swelling and tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal, and settles with simple aftercare.

Yes. Many of our patients are not looking for a dramatic change — they simply want their next step planned by a specialist clinician.

The Lip Reset Programme is as much about moving to considered, experienced clinical care as it is about correcting concerns.

A standard dissolving appointment removes existing filler and ends there. The Lip Reset Programme includes a full clinical assessment, dissolving, a review at 2–4 weeks, and — if you choose — a considered rebuild planned around your natural lip shape, smile and facial proportions.

It’s designed for patients who want a complete, clinically guided reset rather than a single isolated treatment.

If you’ve never had lip filler, or you’re happy with your current lips and want a considered enhancement, our standard Lip Fillers treatment is for you.

If your existing lip filler has migrated, doesn’t feel right, or you simply want to start again with a specialist, the Lip Reset Programme is the right starting point.

No — this is entirely your choice. Many patients choose to dissolve only and return to their natural lips.

Dr Bravi will never encourage a rebuild you don’t want. The Lip Reset Programme can end at dissolving if that’s what’s right for you.

Only hyaluronic acid lip filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Non-HA fillers, including permanent and semi-permanent fillers, cannot be dissolved in the same way.

In consultation, Dr Bravi will review your treatment history to confirm your filler is suitable for dissolving.

We typically recommend waiting at least 2–4 weeks after dissolving before any rebuild, to allow the lips to fully settle and any residual filler or swelling to resolve.

Rushing this stage is one of the main reasons rebuilds don’t look right.

Dr Bravi is a GDC-registered specialist prosthodontist with over 25 years’ experience, including time on Harley Street.

Her specialist dental training means she plans the lips in the full context of your teeth, smile line and facial proportions — a level of anatomical understanding most aesthetic-only injectors don’t have.

Yes. Although we’re based in Thames Ditton, we regularly see patients looking for lip filler dissolving near Kingston, a lip reset in Esher, dissolving lip filler in Surbiton, and support with migrated lip filler in Walton-on-Thames, Cobham and East Molesey.
