What is HarmonyCA?

HarmonyCA is a new generation of HA hybrid fillers, combining hyaluronic acid (HA) with calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a single product. The HA component delivers an immediate lifting and hydrating effect, while the CaHA spheres stimulate fibroblasts to produce new collagen over the following weeks and months – sometimes as early as one week after treatment.

At Thames Dental and Skin, HarmonyCA hybrid facial fillers are delivered by Dr Theodora Bravis, who will always discuss your concerns and assess the best approach – whether HarmonyCA alone or a combination of treatments – to achieve natural‑looking results that work with your facial structure.

What will HarmonyCA do for my face?

Instant lift and contour

As a hybrid hyaluronic acid dermal filler, HarmonyCA gives an immediate lifted, sculpted appearance across the mid and lower face.

Long‑term skin quality

The CaHA microspheres act as a scaffold for fibroblast activity, supporting ongoing collagen production for firmer, better‑quality skin beyond the lifespan of the HA.

Natural‑looking definition

Because HarmonyCA is placed superficially under the skin, it refines and sculpts rather than over‑volumising – ideal for softer, more natural facial contouring.

A more refreshed overall look

By combining lift with improved skin structure, patients often look less tired and more "themselves", without an obvious filled appearance.

Where can HarmonyCA be used?

HarmonyCA hybrid dermal fillers can be used to treat:

HarmonyCA is not used in the lips or the neck.

How does it work?

Dr Bravis uses a cannula to deliver HarmonyCA into the superficial, sub‑dermal layer of the skin – meaning fewer needle pricks and a safer, more comfortable delivery than traditional needle‑based injections. Most treatments involve just 1–3 injection points per side.

Because the product is placed superficially, numbing cream isn’t usually needed, although it can be used on request. After injection, the area is cleansed and gently massaged with arnica gel to smooth the CaHA spheres evenly across the treatment area.

Patient transformations: HarmonyCA dermal fillers

HarmonyCA is genuinely different from a conventional HA filler — the combination of immediate volumising lift and the sustained collagen-stimulating effect of the CaHA microspheres means patients often see the result continue to improve in the months after their treatment, rather than simply maintaining and then fading.

FAQs

HarmonyCA is a hybrid dermal filler that combines two distinct active components in a single product: hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres, plus lidocaine for comfort during treatment.

The HA component provides immediate volumising lift — the result you see walking out of the clinic. The CaHA microspheres act as a scaffold for new collagen production over the following weeks and months, producing a sustained structural improvement beneath the skin. This dual mechanism — immediate cosmetic effect plus longer-term tissue remodelling — is what distinguishes HarmonyCA from a conventional filler.

HarmonyCA is suited to areas where facial lifting, contouring, and collagen support are the primary goals. Common treatment areas include the eyebrow and upper eye area, temple hollows, nasolabial folds, cheekbones, the jawline and jowl area, marionette lines, the chin, and the back of the hands.

Each patient's facial anatomy is assessed individually to determine which areas would benefit most and whether HarmonyCA is the most appropriate product for each specific zone. Not all filler products perform equally in all areas, and the choice of product is always part of the clinical assessment.

Traditional HA fillers work primarily by physically filling a space and attracting water to maintain volume. Their effect is immediate and predictable, but when they metabolise, the area returns broadly to its pre-treatment state.

HarmonyCA adds a biostimulatory layer that traditional HA fillers do not provide: the CaHA microspheres stimulate the patient's own fibroblasts to produce new collagen, creating a structural improvement in the skin's architecture over time. It is also placed more superficially than most volumising fillers — which reduces the risk associated with deep injection near vascular structures. Results typically last 12–18 months in most patients, subject to individual variation.

HarmonyCA and Profhilo are both injectable treatments that stimulate collagen, but they serve different purposes and are not interchangeable.

Profhilo is a pure hyaluronic acid bio-remodeller — it contains no CaHA and produces no volumising lift. Its primary effect is intense skin hydration and a bio-remodelling of the collagen and elastin network across a broad area of skin. It is well suited to patients whose main concern is skin quality, texture, laxity, and overall hydration, rather than volume loss or specific structural definition.

HarmonyCA is designed to lift, contour, and volumise specific structural areas of the face whilst simultaneously biostimulating collagen. It is chosen when the patient needs actual architectural support — restoring cheekbone projection, lifting jowls, or defining the jawline — rather than diffuse skin quality improvement. Dr Bravis may recommend both treatments as part of a complementary plan for some patients.

Most patients achieve a satisfying result after 1–3 treatment sessions, depending on the degree of volume loss and the number of areas being addressed. Some patients require only a single session for a defined outcome, while others prefer a staged approach over 2–3 appointments to build the result gradually.

Because the collagen-stimulating effect continues to develop over 3–6 months after each session, sufficient time between treatments is recommended to assess the full extent of improvement before deciding whether further treatment is beneficial.

HarmonyCA is delivered via a cannula — a blunt-tipped flexible tube rather than a sharp needle — inserted through one to three small entry points per side of the face. The use of a cannula reduces the risk of bruising and allows the product to be placed more precisely along the target area.

The product contains lidocaine, which helps to maintain comfort during the procedure. After the injections, arnica gel is applied and the area massaged to distribute the product evenly and minimise any initial swelling. The appointment typically takes 30–60 minutes including assessment and aftercare discussion.

The immediate lifting effect from the HA component begins to metabolise over several months, but because the CaHA microspheres have stimulated new collagen production, the structural improvement tends to outlast a conventional filler. Results are typically maintained for 12–18 months in most patients, subject to individual variation in metabolism, lifestyle, and the area treated.

At the 12-month mark, a review will help assess how the result is holding and whether a maintenance treatment is appropriate at that point. Dr Bravis will guide you on the most appropriate timing at your follow-up appointment.

As with all injectable treatments, mild swelling, bruising, tenderness, and redness at the injection sites are the most commonly reported effects following HarmonyCA treatment. These are generally mild and resolve within a few days to a week.

Because HarmonyCA is delivered via cannula rather than sharp needle, bruising tends to be less frequent than with needle-based filler techniques. More significant adverse events are rare but possible with any injectable — the full risk profile is discussed at your consultation and a contact route is provided if you have any concerns after treatment.

Yes — HarmonyCA fits well within a broader facial aesthetic plan. It is commonly combined with anti-wrinkle injections to address both structural volume loss and dynamic muscle activity at the same time. It can also be used alongside Profhilo — with HarmonyCA addressing specific structural areas and Profhilo treating overall skin quality and hydration.

The timing and sequencing of combination treatments matters. Dr Bravis will advise on the most logical order to maximise results and minimise any cumulative swelling from multiple injectable procedures close together.
