A much‑talked‑about bio‑remodelling skin booster, now available in Surrey

SUITABLE FOR:

  • Fine lines, crepey skin and loss of elasticity on the face, neck, décolletage or hands
  • Dry, tired‑looking skin that needs a boost in hydration and smoothness
  • Men and women wanting natural skin rejuvenation and non‑surgical skin tightening

What is Profhilo treatment?

Profhilo is an advanced hyaluronic acid injectable designed to boost hydration and improve skin quality from within. It spreads under the skin rather than adding volume, helping to improve elasticity, firmness and brightness for a more youthful appearance.

The treatment can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, hands and selected body areas where skin has become thin, crepey or lax. It is often described as a “skin booster” or bio‑remodelling treatment, rather than a traditional filler.

What will Profhilo do for my skin?

Boost skin hydration

Profhilo delivers high‑concentration hyaluronic acid to boost skin hydration and comfort, helping dry or dull skin look fresher and smoother.

Improve elasticity and firmness

By stimulating collagen and elastin, Profhilo helps improve elasticity and firmness, softening early sagging.

Reduce crepey skin and fine lines

Profhilo can reduce crepey skin and fine lines on areas such as the lower face, neck and hands.

Plump and refresh ageing skin

Ageing skin can appear subtly plumper and more even in tone, without adding noticeable volume or changing facial shape.

How does it work?

Profhilo is injected just under the skin in a series of precise points, where it spreads and integrates with the tissue. The hyaluronic acid attracts water for deep hydration and gradually stimulates collagen and elastin, improving skin structure over time.

Most people have two Profhilo sessions, four weeks apart, with results building after the second treatment and lasting around 3–6 months before a maintenance session.

A holistic view of your skin

As with all skin rejuvenation at Thames Dental and Skin, Dr Bravis looks beyond the surface. During your polynucleotides consultation she will consider lifestyle, stress, sleep, nutrition, gut health and hormones that may be affecting your skin’s ability to repair.

Where appropriate, she can arrange targeted functional medicine tests – for example hormone, gut or nutrient panels – and combine the findings with polynucleotide injections, other anti‑ageing injections and medical‑grade skincare to support long‑term skin renewal, not just short‑term improvement.

Profhilo for body and loose skin

Profhilo Body protocols target lax or crepey skin on areas such as the upper arms, abdomen, décolletage and knees. Treatment is designed to boost hydration and elasticity in these specific body areas, helping skin feel firmer and look smoother.

Our Profhilo body treatment in Thames Ditton can be combined with facial Profhilo in one plan if you are concerned about both face and body skin.

Patient transformations

Profhilo works differently from any other injectable I use — rather than sitting in one location, it spreads through the tissue to remodel the collagen and elastin network across a broad area, which is why patients often describe the result as their skin looking healthier rather than 'done'. It is one of my most-used treatments for patients in their late thirties and beyond who want to address skin quality rather than volume loss.

FAQs

Profhilo is a bio-remodelling treatment rather than a dermal filler. It contains a very high concentration of ultra-pure stabilised hyaluronic acid, but unlike a conventional filler — which is designed to stay in one location and add volume or structure — Profhilo spreads through the skin tissue after injection, distributing itself broadly and stimulating the production of four types of collagen and elastin.

The result is not added volume or a change in facial contour, but an improvement in the skin's own quality: improved hydration, increased firmness, reduction in fine skin laxity, and a more youthful skin texture. Patients often describe looking refreshed rather than treated. If you are seeking structural volume restoration, HarmonyCA hybrid dermal fillers or conventional HA fillers may be more appropriate — a consultation will help identify the right approach.

Profhilo and polynucleotides are both injectable treatments that improve skin quality, but they work through different mechanisms and suit different patient profiles.

Profhilo uses hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate the tissue, remodel collagen and elastin, and restore a plumper, more lifted skin quality across the treated area. It produces a relatively quick improvement — noticeable after the first session and more significant after the second.

Polynucleotides work at a cellular signalling level, stimulating the skin's own DNA repair and regeneration pathways. They are particularly effective for thin, fragile, or damaged skin — including the under-eye area, sun-damaged skin, and post-acne skin — and their results build more gradually over 3–6 months. Dr Bravis may recommend combining both treatments in a phased programme for patients with more complex skin quality concerns, as each addresses a different aspect of skin health.

Profhilo is versatile and can be used across several areas. On the face, it addresses the lower face and jawline, mid-face, and upper face. It is also an effective treatment for the neck, décolletage, and hands — areas where skin laxity and thinning can be harder to address with other treatments.

The hands are a particularly rewarding area: the skin on the back of the hands thins significantly with age, becoming crepey and allowing veins and tendons to become more visible. Profhilo injected into the hands hydrates and firms the overlying skin, reducing the crepey texture and giving a more youthful, healthier appearance. Many patients treat both the face and hands as part of an overall programme.

Profhilo Body is a formulation designed specifically for areas such as the inner arms and abdomen, where skin laxity is the primary concern. Your consultation will confirm whether Profhilo is an appropriate treatment for your specific area of concern.

The standard Profhilo protocol consists of two initial treatment sessions spaced four weeks apart. This two-session course is designed to build the full tissue remodelling effect — results develop progressively over the 8–12 weeks following the second session as collagen and elastin production increases.

Maintenance treatment is typically recommended every six months. Some patients find they are happy with annual or biannual maintenance as the overall skin quality improvement is sustained; Dr Bravis will review your response and advise accordingly at your follow-up appointment.

Profhilo involves minimal downtime. Small bumps may be visible at the injection sites for a few hours after treatment but generally settle by the end of the day. Mild redness and, occasionally, minor bruising at the injection points can occur but typically resolve within a few days.

We advise avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and applying skincare products or makeup directly to the injection sites for 24 hours after treatment. Most patients return to their normal routine the following morning.

Many patients notice an improvement in skin hydration and texture after their first Profhilo session, though the effect is more subtle at this stage. The more significant improvement — increased firmness, improved skin tone, and visible reduction in fine laxity — becomes apparent in the weeks following the second session, as collagen and elastin production continues to develop.

The full result of the initial two-session course is typically visible 8–12 weeks after the second treatment. Because the improvement is in skin quality rather than a structural change, it tends to integrate naturally with your overall appearance.

Yes — Profhilo is suitable for all skin types and tones. The ultra-pure hyaluronic acid it contains is biocompatible, meaning the risk of an allergic reaction is very low. It is particularly beneficial for patients with mature, dehydrated, or lax skin — typically from the late thirties onwards — though younger patients experiencing early skin dehydration or dullness also respond well.

Profhilo is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you have had previous reactions to hyaluronic acid-based products, this should be raised at your consultation. A full medical history and skin condition review takes place before any treatment is recommended.

Profhilo is administered using the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) technique — a series of five precise injection points per side of the face, chosen to allow the product to spread evenly through the tissue and reach the full treatment area from a minimal number of entry points. The overall session typically takes 15–20 minutes.

The injections use a fine needle, and while some brief stinging or pressure is normal at each point, the treatment is generally well tolerated. Dr Bravis can discuss additional comfort measures at your consultation if you are particularly sensitive to needles.

The choice between Profhilo and a conventional dermal filler depends on what you are trying to achieve. Profhilo is a bio-remodeller — it improves the quality and hydration of the skin broadly across the treated area, firming it and restoring a more youthful texture. It does not add volume to a specific location or alter facial structure.

Conventional dermal fillers, and specifically HarmonyCA hybrid dermal fillers, are chosen when the goal is to restore lost volume, lift sagging tissue, or define a specific feature such as the cheekbones, chin, or jaw. If you are unsure which approach suits your concerns, a consultation will make this clear — and for many patients, a combination of both is the most effective route.

Yes — Profhilo combines well with a range of complementary treatments. Many patients use it alongside anti-wrinkle injections, which address dynamic wrinkles that Profhilo does not target. It also works well in combination with polynucleotides for patients with more complex skin quality concerns, or sequenced alongside chemical skin peels to address surface texture alongside deeper remodelling.

The sequencing of treatments matters — typically, Profhilo and anti-wrinkle injections can be timed closely together, while adding peels or LED sessions in a structured plan maximises overall results. The most appropriate combination and sequence will be discussed at your consultation.
