About Dr Panayiotis Kaimakamis

Hello, I am Dr Panayiotis Kaimakamis – most people call me Pano. I am a GDC-registered specialist in periodontics, the area of dentistry concerned with the health of the gums and the bone that supports your teeth.

I completed my BDS at King’s College London and my Doctorate of Clinical Periodontology at Queen Mary, University of London. Before specialising, I gained extensive hospital experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Royal London and Whipps Cross Hospitals, and I have worked in private practice in the UK and Singapore.

Alongside clinical work, I am involved in periodontal research and clinical trials at Queen Mary, University of London – particularly in minimally invasive non-surgical therapy (MINST) – and I teach dental professionals as a trainer at the Edudent Academy. I have supervised dental undergraduates and hygiene therapists throughout my career.

At Thames Dental and Skin, my focus is straightforward: stabilising gum and bone health to prevent tooth loss, treating gum disease with the least invasive approach possible, and working closely with hygienists and restorative colleagues so your care is properly joined up.

I now come to see Theodora for more pleasurable things and have had some great and rewarding results. The time and care taken is another level, you never feel rushed and always given time to express concerns and talk about what you’d like to change and how you feel about your face. Aging is something we can’t help, but we can give it a smoother transition making us feel more rejuvenated and confident in ourselves. This is definitely what Theodora provides. Giving a full assessment and then a plan moving forward to help over the space of a year or so. The thing that also helps is you can choose from what is suggested and work at your own pace. What does Dr Kaimakamis do at Thames?

Pano is a GDC-registered specialist periodontist at Thames Dental and Skin, treating gum disease and the bone that supports your teeth. His work includes gum disease treatment, gum recession and aesthetic gum surgery, periodontal regeneration, and the care of dental implants - working closely with our hygienists and restorative dentists.

What is a periodontist?

A periodontist is a dentist with several years of additional specialist training in the gums and supporting bone. Pano is on the GDC specialist register for periodontics, which means he treats more complex gum problems than general dentistry alone.

I've been referred for gum treatment - how do I book?

Most patients see Pano following an initial consultation or a referral from their own dentist. Call us on 020 8398 9466 and we'll arrange your appointment; if you've been referred, bring any details your dentist has provided and we'll take it from there.

My gums bleed or have receded - should I see a periodontist?

Bleeding, receding or sore gums can be early signs of gum disease, which is much easier to treat when caught early. We can arrange for Pano to assess your gums and recommend the right approach - call 020 8398 9466 to get started.

Can Pano help with my dental implant?

Yes. As well as placing implants, Pano treats peri-implant problems such as peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis - the gum and bone conditions that can affect implants over time.
